FISHING AT BYWELL
The Bywell beat of the River Tyne is one of the best stretches of salmon fishing in England. Running directly through the estate, the beat is 2.5 miles long and fishing is from both banks.
There are 12 main pools, and others during high water conditions. Fishing on the river is on a 2-beat system, with 4 rods on each beat rotating daily. The estate employs two full-time ghillies to look after fishing parties. The River Tyne is famous for its large fish, and the five year average at Bywell is 416 salmon and grilse.
